Care Package Items

We have been collecting items to bring along with us to give to Casa Esperenza as well as to deliver as care packages to families in the surrounding areas. We have had several suitcases filled already but if you would like to donate items or have a greater idea of items that would be appreciated, just let one of us team members know and we would love to share that with you. We have added a side bar with a few of the items that Fe Viva needs.

featuring - Barb & Brad

This Sunday in our morning service at Summerland Alliance, we will begin a series of interviews and prayer times for the families that are going on the trip. This Sunday, we will highlight Barb and Brad Powell and how God has led them on this journey of faith to Guatemala.

As you think and pray for our team this week, please pray especially for Brad and Barb and their preparations for this trip - for their hearts, health, and strength in the days and weeks ahead.

Fundraising Updates!

Thank you to all of you who were praying for our Song for Guatemala fundraiser concert. The evening was well-received and people were generous in giving towards the trip. Chris and I so appreciate Tracy’s leadership and vision for the evening and thoroughly enjoyed participating. $1,370 was raised that evening. Sunday after the service at Summerland Alliance Church, Grant and Judy McLaughlin along with their team put on a Souper Sunday luncheon fundraiser featuring a delicious Taco Soup and Corn Chowder with Cornbread on the side (yes, it was very very good!) - $ 428 was raised through the luncheon.

We are encouraged by people's interest and passion for this trip. Thank you for your prayers and generosity to us.

From Brad & Barb

This is from Brad & Barb. I am just making the post for them:

Five weeks from now we will be in Guatemala. Anybody ready yet? We got our vaccinations today. We are getting excited as the time approaches and wondering what God has in store for us. The concert "A Song for Guatemala" is fast approaching and we have been praying earnestly that not only will the concert be a blessing to all who attend but also an effective fund raiser for a very good cause. We have placed numerous posters and flyers about town, aiming for a sell out crowd. Tax deductible receipts are available. For anyone interested please contact Summerland Alliance Church for details. We have a friend in Enderby who is collecting many supplies and gifts for the kids in Guatemala and she thinks she will possibly fill 3 suitcases. In preparing for our upcoming departure to Guatemala we have been wondering if anyone out there would be interested in doggie sitting for us while we are away for the 10 days, or knows someone who might be interested. Dios te bendiga! Adios!!

The Team

Without further adu, this is the team going to Gautemala!

Encouraging news!

Hola!
Our Guatemala departure is certainly nearing! I can't believe how fast the weeks of preparation are going by! I am looking forward to A Song for Guatemala concert this Friday, February 15th and hope you all come to hear some great music, listen to a Guatemalan folk tale and hear a bit more about Casa Esperanza and Fe Viva.
Donations are beginning to come in. I just heard today that $2600 was recently donated to the team so that is fabulous and so very encouraging. And items for Guatemala are also beginning to come in. I've received several bags of toothpaste, shampoos, soaps etc and some clothing and toys as well. Thank you to everyone who has donated so generously!
Dios te bendiga!

45 days to go

We have less than 7 weeks to go until we leave for Guatemala! Chris and I (Angela) were able to meet with Kim & Lynn Weiler from Fe Viva today and we left with much excitement and anticipation for our trip. They made us feel completely welcome and at ease about bringing the boys along; and we know that all of us will be able to be apart of the work of Fe Viva in Guatemala in a very real way.

Our team still needs to raise $9,552.08, and we are confident (most of the time!) that God will provide all that we need. We still have several fundraisers to go and encourage all of you who live in the Summerland/Penticton area to come out to the fundraising concert - A Song for Guatemala on February 15th.

Thank you for your interest in our journey. We so appreciate your prayers for us as a team!
